SwayambuNath Stupa
Located in the eastern outskirt of Kathmandu and atop a foothill, SwayambhuNath Stupa; the oldest stupa in Nepal, is a drive of approx. 15 minutes. The main entrance to the stupa is at the base of the foothill and is facing east from where 365 stone-steps (each represents a day of the year) lead all the way up to the top. The scared area of the stupa comprises monasteries, Ajima (Hindu Temple with goddess) and the white dome itself right in the centre. Since the stupa is atop the foothill, it offers wonderful views of Kathmandu Valley and amazing Langtang mountain range up in the north. The stupa is also known as Monkey Temple amongst foreigners as holy monkeys dwell there.

Kathmandu Durbar Square
Located right in the centre of Kathmandu city, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a drive of approx. 10 minutes eastwards from SwayambhuNath Stupa and was the palace for Malla Kings and even for some Shah Kings. The area comprises many pagoda styled artistic Hindu temples built between 12th to 18th centuries as well as the temple namely Kasthamandap, which was built with the wood from a single tree and also where Kathmandu derived its name from. The area also houses Living Goddess Kumari (A young virgin girl from Shakya clan who is selected as the goddess Kumari via tough competition. Once she reaches her puberty or receives heavy loss of blood due to wounds/cuts, she is replaced with the other young virgin girl who will have to go through the same tough completion).

BouddhaNath Stupa
BouddhaNath Stupa is the largest stupa ever built in Nepal. The stupa is located in the north-east outskirt of Kathmandu and is a drive of approx.20 minutes north-eastwards from Kathmandu Durbar Square. An old trading route between British-India and China-Tibet used to pass through this area so it became popular with Tibetans, for some of the Tibetan businessmen settled here for their business prosperity. The main stupa is right in the middle and is surrounded by souvenir shops, restaurants, Tibetan painting schools and monasteries.

PashupatiNath Temple
Located in the eastern part of Kathmandu and on the west bank of holy Bagmati River, PashupatiNath Stupa is approx. drive of 10 minutes southwards from BouddhaNath Stupa. The temple belongs to Lord Shiva and is considered as the holiest Hindu’s temple of whose river bank sees cremations. Hindus only are allowed into the main temple complex whereas Non-Hindus are allowed to view the temple from the eastern bank of Bagmati River.

Client Reviews

Perfect organization according to my personal needs to go to Everest Base Camp

Perfect organization according to my personal needs to go to Everest Base Camp

Rating: Review Date : May 18, 2017

I travelled to Nepal to volunteer while working remote, and I didn´t have too much time to do the Everest Base Camp within the recommendable timing (12 days including Kala Pathar), but Durga helped me to organize my itinerary to meet my expectations.
I didn´t have to worry about anything!! Durga sent me the checklist with everything that I was going to need there, and my guide went shopping with me to get good quality items, and he also sent me key information about the High Altitude Thickness.
I enjoyed every single moment in the Himalayas, Chuda my guide knows by heart all the routes, and he was adapting his pace to my physical conditions, offering me his help all the time.
I decided that it was better to start the treks very early in the morning, because the weather conditions were perfect until 11 am (after that time, the weather was windy, foggy, sometimes raining, etc), and my guide accepted to proceed like that.
I was able to make my dream true thanks to Durga and Chuda. Fully recommended!!
