Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes you all the way to the base camp of 10th highest Peak 8091M. This Trek is obviously one of the mose beautiful and famous treks combined with a magnificent views and the breathtaking scenery.

The wonders of Annapurna Base Camp await on this unforgettable 14 days trek combing with Pokhara and kathmandu city tour. Base camp to Annapurna trek can be done in 8 to 10 days from Pokhara and end in Pokhara. Alone the trek we get through the rhododendron forests, traditional Nepali villages, and ever-higher vistas, behold the best south face views of awe inspiring Mount Annapurna I - the world’s 10th tallest peak. We will steal glimpses of Machapuchare (Fishtail), called the “Matterhorn of Asia” and revered as sacred to the God Shiva. 

We begin annapurna base camp trek from Nayapul and hike to Ghorepani. The next morning, we wake up early to catch the sunrise at Poon Hill, where we get a stunning, panoramic view of the Himalayas, including the peaks of Dhaulagiri(8,167m), Annapurna I(8,091m), Fishtail(6,993m) and the three-peak Nilgiri range. At Tadapani, the trail splits and we take the base camp route. We continue through beautiful villages, such as Chhomrong, nestled amid the awesome mountain peaks. The trail to Annapurna Base Camp Trek reaches Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) base camp and then ultimately Annapurna Base Camp. Early the next morning, we catch the sunrise. The sun bathes the top of the snowy peaks with a golden glow, giving you a memory you will never forget. On the way back from base camp, we stop to enjoy the hot springs in Jhinu Danda and continue trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara. 

When is the best time to trek Annapurna Base Camp ? 

Base Camp of Annapurna trek can be done any time of the year. Autumn is the best time to do this trek. Autumn is a dry season that offers clear blue sky and moderate temperature. Autumn is the best time do any trek in Nepal therefore, it is compratively crowded than other seasons. You could do a trek to Annapurna base camp during winter ( beginning of December ) if you would like it to be quieter on the trail. Dry air and clear sky with the  best visibility in the beginning of december but it will be very cold and will snow. If you plan to trek in December, you need to well prepared and check a list of the equipment for winter trekking.

Spring is another best time to do Annapurna Base Camp trek. Watch out for the avalanche though. Listen to the locals for the news about the avalanche ahead. In the spring season, the trail will bloom with red and white rhododendrons and many other exotic flowers found in this region, a good time to go for botanists.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arriving in Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport), Mount Trails representative will meet you and help you transfer to your hotel by private transport. Enjoy a free evening to explore spice market of Ason and refresh from your jet-lag. Before dinner we will brief during a short as per tour schedule.

Today, after having early breakfast , we will drive you to Pokhara. Driving from Kathmandu to Pokhara will take around 7 hours by tourist bus. Upon arrival you'll rest for a bit and evening we take a boat ride on fewa lake. overnight at hotel.

Today, we begin our trek at Nayapul after 1 hour driving by a private vehicle from Pokhara. And then after 15 minutes of short walk along the bank of Modi Khola, we will reach Birethanti. Trek starts from Birethanti to Tikhedhuga which will take around three and half hours following the river to Lumle for lunch. One the way, you will be observing the beautiful landscapes farming lands, and people working there. Finally we will reach at Tikhedhunga.

Leaving Tikhedhunga, we begin our trek with a steep climb to Ulleri. In fact, Ulleri is a large Gurung village at the altitude of 2070m. Then, following the ascending trek through the beautiful dense rhododendron, magnolia forests will bring us to Ghorepani. The best time to see rhododendron and magnolia flowers is in the spring (March-April). We will stay at guesthouse tonight.

Today, very early in the morning, we will start an hour hiking to Poon Hill for the best sunrise view in the panorama of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massif. And then we return to Ghorepani. Leaving Ghorepani following the beautiful dense forests will then bring you to Tadapani, which will be the destination for today.

The day starts with steep downhill through dense rhododendron forests. Then, leaving Tadapani and following the trail will bring us to Chommrong. Chommrong offers the close up views of Annapurna South, Himchuli and Fishtail Mountain. Chommrong is the gateway to Annapurna Base Camp.

Today, the trail drops down to Chommrong Khola and again we continue climbing to Khuldighar where there is an Annapurna Conservation Area Check Post. After crossing the forest, we will reach at Dovan.

Today will be a short walking day. Our day begins with the climb through forest to Himalayan Hotel where we will have our lunch. After the lunch, the trail goes gently uphill towards Hinku Cave. Then finally, we will reach at Deurali. Overnight, we will stay at guesthouse.

Today is our special day in terms of the views. We will be starting early in the morning to ABC. The reason we start early is because we have to cross the avalanche areas before 12 at noon. After crossing the avalanche areas, we will trek uphill through the bamboo forests for about an hour to reach the Machhapuchhre Base Camp, which isn't really a base camp since climbing the mountain is not permitted. Two hours of trek from Machhapuchhre Base Camp will take you to the Annapurna Base Camp at the elevation of 4130m, where you will enjoy the breath-taking surrounding views of the Himalayas. Overnight, we will stay at guesthouse.

Today, we follow the same trail down to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo where there are few tea houses and lodges available to stay.

We follow the same trail until Chommrong. Once we have passed Khuldighar, there is an experimental sheep farm. Then, the trail continues through rhododendron forest. Descending down from Chommrong will take us to Jhinu Hot Spring where you can bath in natural hot springs.

From Jhinu Hot Spring, we walk at the right side of Modi Khola for 4 and half hours to Birethanti which is considered to be one of the best and relaxing walk of the entire trek. Then, we reach Nayapul and an hour drive from Nayapul will bring us at Pokhara city.

Today will be the best day for having tour in Pokhara city. Late morning, we will start our sightseeing of Devi’s Falls, Gupteswor Cave, International Mountain Museum, Seti Gorge, and boating in the Fewa Lake.

Trip Note

Our Trekking Group

The trekking group is depends on the number of persons but we normally take in 02-10 persons in a group. However, if you are in a bigger group of more than 10 persons, we can manage trekking accordingly. The maximum number 10  is the outcome of generally organized group treks. But, we are good at organizing treks for any group size you require. 

Besides the trekking group, we have our local staffs to assist you as well. Trekking does not just mean traveling around, it will be more rewarding if you can gain good bunch of information of the areas you travel. So, we provide you with guides for that and in order to assure easy travel experience, we have porters who would carry on your luggage. We will facilitate you with 1 porter between 2 trekkers. Our porter carry maximum of 20 kg weight. 

Guides and Porters

  • For trekking group of 1 to 5 people, we provide – 1 Guide and Porter (1 porter between two trekkers).
  • For trekking group of more than 5 people, we provide – 1 Guide, 1 Assistant Guide and Porter (1 porter between two trekkers).

Accommodation

Accommodation during the Annapurna Base Camp trekking will be on Tea Houses or Mountain lodges.  Twin sharing comfortable beds and common bathroom will be provided. The place is clean and hygienic. However, if you require a single supplement accommodation, it can also be made available on request at an additional cost of US$ 40. But still you need to be aware that single supplement accommodation may not be available at all the places during your trek in Himalayas. 

Meals

We mostly serve fresh and hygienic food to let you experience typical Nepali food, special mountain foods and other cuisines including international cuisine like Indian, Tibetan, Italian, and Continental. You can always make your choices from the food menu available there. We will have breakfast and dinner at lodge/tea houses mostly whereas we will have the lunch on our way. 

While in Kathmandu, your accommodation is at tourist standard hotels facilitated with Attached Bath, A/C, 24 hours running hot/cold shower, Internet service and others. The facilities provided here is of Deluxe Hotel and we serve you a breakfast at same hotel.

Transportation

The means of transportation will be Private or regular tourist bus. Pick up and drop off from airport to hotel, and hotel to airport will be done by private transportation. Also we can arrange domestic flight as per your request. Annapurna Base Cam Trek in Nepal will start with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara where we stary overning. Next day drive to trek starting point by private transportation.

Safety and Precaution

It is necessary that you take in good precaution during your travel to avoid any difficulties in your Trekking in Himalayas. As the trekking leads to higher altitude range, you need some trustworthy, experienced, qualified and well-equipped people around you. Your safety is assured by the local trek guide and other staffs. 

Since these hikes take you on the remote Himalayan region, it is very essential that you are accompanied with the very experienced, qualified and well-equipped leader such that your trek runs safe and successful one. All our guides at Mount Trails are trained and licensed from Nepal Government, certified from TAAN and Nepal Mountaineering Association with experience over many years. So, this is a double assurance for your safety and to make sure that you are in the correct and professionals hand. Thus, you need not worry about anything; we are here only at your service.

Health Issues

Regarding health issues, we are well aware that you are likely to get Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Going up high at faster pace is too harmful and can be fatal as well because of less oxygen. Some general symptoms of AMS are mentioned clearly on this link Altitude Mountain Sickness
